In New Zealand, the Hazardous Substances and New Organism (HSNO) Act was enacted on 10th June 1996 and came in to force in July 2001. The HSNO sets minimum requirements for identification, labeling, packaging, tracking and disposal of hazardous substances. The Health and Safety in Employment Act (HSE) applies to all NZ workplaces and puts requirements on people who manage and control hazards. The Civil Aviation Authority (NZCAA) administers and enforces the HSNO and HSE Acts in the aviation sector in New Zealand.
